How do I access Proton Drive?

You can access Proton Drive through the web app or via our dedicated apps for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS/iPadOS. To access Proton Drive in your browser: 1. Log in to your account at account.proton.me 2. Click on the App switcher at the top left and select Proton Drive To download our apps, click here.

What specifically is encrypted on Proton Drive?

Proton Drive uses end-to-end encryption: File contents, filenames, and folder names are all encrypted with your private key before leaving your device. As we don't have access to your private key, we cannot access the files you upload to Proton Drive. Only you can access your data. This is known as zero-access encryption. Please note that while the contents and names of your files are end-to-end encrypted, certain fields, such as file size, are not encrypted. We do this to enable certain server functions, such as sorting. Learn more about the Proton Drive security model

What is the largest file size I can upload to Proton Drive?

Accepted Answer

The size of the file you can upload is only limited by your available free storage space. In other words, if you have 10 GB of unused storage, you can store a file of up to 10 GB.

Why can't I see more free storage space after I've deleted a number of files?

Accepted Answer

When you delete files in Proton Drive, it can take up to three hours to completely clear the storage space. If your storage doesn't clear automatically after three hours, please contact our Customer Support team. We'll be happy to help.
